Kazakh people cannot live without singing. This is true.

The dedication of Kazakhstan's schools to music education & performing arts is incredible to see as an American educator.  Often, to the detriment of our students & society, art & music education programs are the first things that get cut.  The majority of parents do not go out of their way to help systems promote and protect these programs.  And our society as a whole undervalues the importance of music and art toward cultivation of the human condition and mind.  It was refreshing to see students who were motivated and supported in these areas.  The first student showed us a video of himself at an international music competition that was televised across Asia and spoke of how ideas from math and physics contributed towards his efforts to compose pieces.  He, at the age of 14, has composed over 70 pieces of music and famous musicians in Asia are playing his stuff.  Traditional Kazakh dance is highlighted in this video next along with two young men who are playing the dombra, a traditional Kazakh musical instrument. There are a few singers, some singing national music, others doing original pop music and even the tail end of a short scene from the play "Snow White."  A singing group was featured in the Russian school followed with a traditional Russian dance performance by students.   These kids really know how to welcome a crowd.  Incredible stuff.  I hope you enjoy it.
