American Teenage Life

Here I sit the day before I go.  So much to think about.  The past couple of weeks have been a whirlwind of planning, creating & finishing projects that will enable the students of Kazakhstan to see what life is like for our students here in the United States.  Over the past month my students blew me away with their efforts to compile photographs of the different aspects of their lives.  Students brainstormed themes like Home, Food, Fashion, and School and brought back three photographs per theme to share.  They utilized Pinterest and uploaded all photos to newly created boards entitled "My Life."  We took the first 10 minutes of each class and reviewed pictures and each class voted the best three photos of the day.  The winning submissions were transferred to a Pinterest board on my account entitled "American Teenage Perspective."  When all themes were covered the winning photographs were moved to iMovie and arranged.  Students were given the last assignment of "Music" to create suggestions for a soundtrack that would accompany the movie.  Below is the final project.  There is no way I could ever stand in front of Kazakh students and possibly convey in words what these images do.  Our students ROCK.

  2. Cool blog! It will be interesting to follow. They couldn't have picked a better teacher to do this! Although, watching Jenny Braunfels travel alone across the world would have been pretty comical...
