Warriors, Emperors, And Mindblowing Craftsmanship

Well friends, this is what I would look like if I was an army officer in the Qin Dynasty. Ya, pretty intimidating, I know.

This is Gerry. He is the Qin Emperor. He is way more bad ass than me. This suit was made for that beard of his.

Terra cotta is a type of clay that is found all over the surrounding areas of Xi'an China.

We were visiting a craftsmen warehouse full of hand made creations. Everyone that works here are masters of their craft with years of schooling and experience. They are incredible.

You can actually send them or leave them with a picture of yourself and they will craft your face as part of a Qing Terracotta warrior.

There are huge kilns to bake the statues.
They stay in here for two days if small and much longer if life sized.

Ceramic zodiac dragons also hand painted. Depending on size they cost as little as 5 dollars and as much as five hundred dollars.

Silk hand crafted rugs!!! Thousands of dollars and worth every penny. #keepdreaming

This man was etching designs on tables and Chinese wooden screens.

Paintings on dressing screens included fine detail.

My favorite by far were the bronze crafted dragons. So awesome. Too heavy to fit in the carry on. Oh, and my salary as a teacher makes this purchase a fiscal impossibility. Maybe when I get famous . . .
